T-Shirt Fundraiser by Florence Professional Firefighters Association Local 270

Florence Professional Firefighters Association Local 270 is holding a T-Shirt Fundraiser this June for Autism Awareness. The Autism Society of Alabama and The Arc of the Shoals will be the beneficiaries of 100 percent of the profit from the T-shirt sales. Local 270 has teamed up with the local business Coleman Group( Florence Blvd., Darby Dr) to create the T-shirts for the fundraiser. They will be Bella Canvas
brand and an ocean blue shirt. Coleman Group has committed to donating 50 percent of its profit to the two foundations.

The shirts will be available at Station 1 downtown( E Dr. Hicks, S Wood) as well as Crunch Fitness at different times throughout the month of June. Crunch Fitness’s social media page will announce certain dates we will be there. Burger Depot( Florence Blvd.) will also be selling shirts and other local businesses have been contacted as well as potential locations for our shirts to be sold. Chief Tim Anerton and Chief Jeffery Perkins have approved Florence Firefighters wearing the shirts on shift during the month of June, which will be great for the fundraiser’s visibility to the public.

The Autism Society of Alabama reached out to local 270 about donating 5 Carter Kits to be deployed at each station at the Florence Fire Department. Carter Kits are Sensory Bags that contain items known to comfort and focus those who are on the Autism spectrum, as well as many other people who find themselves overwhelmed or impacted by traumatic events. Chief Tim Anerton and Chief Jeffery Perkins approved these kits to be utilized at all five of our fire stations. Local 270 is very excited about this because it will better help Florence Fire combat some challenges that our citizens with Autism face.

The Kits will be presented To Local 270 and Florence Fire Department on June 26 at the beachfront in McFarland Park between 12-3. The Autism Society of Alabama and The Arc of the Shoals will be at the event with information on autism awareness and their foundations. We will have several businesses there
that have helped us with this fundraiser including Mefford’s which will be taking orders for a jewelry line he created that can be utilized as a way to assist those with Autism through a QR code technology that can be scanned with your phone and give you the information you need to assist them. Four Horseman BBQ and Taco Mama P’s have verbally committed to being at the event as well. T-Shirts will be for sale at the event as well for 15 dollars per shirt.
